About

Welcome to LHWYCO (Love Her With Your Clothes On)!  Please allow me just a few minutes of your time.

First of all, you are here reading this because 1) either you or someone you know has requested that you take a look at it, or 2) you just happened across it.  Regardless, welcome and may your life be enriched because of it.

LHWYCO started in Spring of 2009 as a weekly e-mail for men and now we are online.  So here’s the short of it, all married men have the same challenge set before them.  But before we get to that, please indulge me as I share a bit of my heart.

Since 2008 (because of God’s work in my own marriage and my involvement with the marriage of others on different levels) I have noticed a trend in marriages.  I understand that it is not a new trend, but it is a trend that I have become more acutely aware of.  Our marriages are under attack and it is our job, as husbands, to protect and promote this sacred union.

This is by no means a formula for marital bliss, but I believe the Lord blesses effort.  So here is how it works:

Who?

Any married man could at some point benefit from encouragement.  Regardless of how old you are, how long you’ve been married or how much you think you have it together, if you are a married man, you could use this site for your marriage to some extent.

Why?

The ultimate purpose of the encouragement is to help husbands fulfill the commands of Ephesians 5:25-31 and I Peter 3:7.  Take a moment to read through them now.

Ephesians 5:25-31

Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.   In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.   For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body.

I Peter 3:7

Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.

As I already mentioned, this is not a twelve step program.  It is actually a two step program.  Step one is pray and step two is do.  (And if you haven’t already noticed, we take our queue from the Scriptures on how to love our wives.)

Another “why” could be directed toward the name – Love Her With Your Clothes On.  It should be pretty clear, but here is a quick explanation.  To be blunt, most men are willing, nay eager, to disrobe with/for their wives.  That comes pretty naturally, but that is not at all what this is about.  The whole idea behind this site is to help us love and lead our wives the way they most desired to be loved and led.  And most of the time, that is not what comes naturally to us!  And, nine times out of ten, this is done with our clothes on!

When?

Once a week I will post an RE (Relationship Exercise) for that week.  Some RE’s will be simple in theory and difficult in implementation.  Other ones will require a little money and/or a little creativity.  But remember, every task should be motivated by Ephesians 5:25-30 and I Peter 3:7.  And that brings us to our first task:

Study, Memorize and Meditate on Ephesians 5:25-30 and I Peter 3:7.

These passages are foundational and vital for loving our wives.

Thanks for being a part of this.  Remember to pray for your brothers.

It’s worth it!
